17/03/2011 - 18/03/2011 log - Soundtrack and Filming

Today Jubel began making the music for our thriller, and is attempting to make it mysterious, tense and suspenseful, however we want to allow the music to make sure that it doesn't give away the movie straightaway, so that it has a build up towards the main segment of the thriller.  The program that he used was Garage Band. In order to create his soundtrack Jubel created the soundtrack in sections, and  used the Garage band selection, which consisted of instruments, bass, vocals and natural sounds. From there he selected five elements, and placed them together in order to create a beat. He extended the beat, and varied it in length as well as changed and tempo, and pitch of a that particular section in order to fit a select segment of our thriller.

These are screen shot of different sections of his work, when creating the beat.

Everyone else in the group continued to film, and when wondering around we stumbled upon the perfect box, which was a million times better than our initial prop. The look of the box was more run down, dangerous and more realistic. Furthermore it was quite a large box, which then insured that our main character felt comfortable, which was a major complaint.Within the box it has additional features, which  included holes, which would then allow us to re-create our shimmering natural light effect.

However on the 18th after filming everything, our tape seems to have failed. Therefore we've lost everything we previously filmed and have to do it again.

15/03/2011 log - Opening of thriller sequence

Today we had been editing together the first part of our thriller sequence. On the weekend before we had filmed segments of our thriller, and due to the fact that we hadn't acquired the main component, which was our box we had to film other things, such as the lead up to the main events that would unfold. We filmed a further lead up to the box, but this time when inside the unknown establishment.

As you can see here to the left, this is the first part of when we began filming inside. We wanted to get a mysterious yet natural look as well as a sense of continuity, especially since it was sunny outside. NI addition the light coming in form the bottom of the door contrast with the dark black taking up the majority of the scene. We wanted to do this because it also creates a sense of restriction for the audience linking in with the thriller's title. In order to get this effect we use an extremely powerful light source and shone it at the bottom of the door, while opening it slightly allowing some light to escape.

We found it rather challenging due to the fact that we wanted an area that was reachable yet still had the sense of enclosure as well as evoking some sense of conspiracy and a top secret area. In order to make a lead up to the box we wanted to get the really mysterious "eye brow raising" aspects of the room, and i believe we achieved this as seen in the print screens below.

This suggests a sense of danger, and relates back to the theme of our narrative, which revolves around restriction, the government, and conspiracy.

The once again gives a sense of location, and raises enigma codes.

This relates back to the sense of government operation and hidden files etc.

T* One of the targets we've set our selves is to insure that we begin filming the main segments of the thriller, and then be capable to attempt the depth of film part of the thriller sequence.

Failed uploads

Unfortunately both our final live type as well as our audience feedback have proven to be extremely hard to upload due to technical failure caused by the site. In order to solve this issue and insure that our work is seen, we shall be burning both of them onto a disk and that shall be the given in addition with our blog.
