29/03/2011 log - Soundtrack, Editing and Filming
Today after receiving feedback from the day before we reassessed our thriller, and decided to make numerous amounts of changes. Some of those changes involved re-filming certain aspects of the our thriller, such as getting various shots of inside the box, as well as getting the box with greater light, allowing the audience see the box more clearly. In addition we re-filmed the the surgery part as i believed that it didn't convey the narrative i wanted to put across Another one of the things we changed was the soundtrack, we decided to go for a more tension building and mysterious approach, rather than our original fast paced soundtrack, which inevitably didn't suit the pace the story conveyed. We have yet to fully touch upon the rest of the changes.
Visual production soundtrack
This is the soundtrack that was used within our thriller film, and it was produced using the program garageband. There were a vast amount of different versions of this becuase certain key elements were either out of sync, or missing certains parts.
Production Logo
This was our final production logo that we decided to go with, due to the fact that it anchored the production name and emphasized the fact that were not associated with mainstream commercial film industry. In order to make this we took, and image of a persons eye close up, and from there we decided to add various effects. Initially we wanted to make the picture in color, and give the iris a rainbow effect, however we decided to go with a black and white effect, because of the fact that it seemed more professional and simplistic. The program we used was Adobe Photo shop.

1/04/2011 log - Finishing Edting, Soundtrack, Livetype, and new production logo
Today we all continued the tasks that we were doing before in order to meet our deadlines. While there are still little segments that need to be tweaked as well we're still on track towards finishing. When it comes to editing all that Paul needs to do is that re-arrange some of the clips as well as add the production logo in front of the entire thriller. When it comes to music, Muhidur needs to still adjust the music in order to sync with the actual movie. In addition he needs to insure that the pitches of music within certain segments of the thriller, aren't too overpowering nor are they too quiet. Furthermore he needs to begin adding some diegetic effects in order to make the music more natural. Scott needs to once again re-do the livetype as the effects placed upon it apparently don't suit the type of film we're making. While i need to re-film little segments to insure they look as realistic and professional as possible.

7/04/2011 log - Work on audience feedback
Today our group are altering the thriller in response to the audience feedback that was given to us, concerning all the elements such as the mise en scene, sound and titles, which we key areas where people seemed to have problems. Therefore it means that Scott is editing the titles, and Muhidur has had to adjust the music slightly. Those seem to be are main objectives for today, besides updating our blog. In addition some refilming is required as well as some more editing.

Audience Feeback
Mise en Scene
Our audience feedback concerning the mise en scene was that it suited our overall concept, and the we were able to incorporate things withing the mise en scene that really emphasized our story. Certain people said that the wasn't variation in the scenery e.g no outside shouts, various locations. However certain people believed that it suited our title "restricted", and the whole sense of a lack of knowledge therefore giving us the capability of getting the information in segments rather than all at one, once again relating back to our mise en scene which is restricted yet still giving you a sense of location. Another criticism was that it didn't really allow people to feel as if they could possibly relate to the area as it wasn't a home or or an open location. Furthermore something else that some of the audiences liked was the props used e.g the box, and the lights, the holes, etc. In addition they said that they liked the way the light just seeps through the cracks, and really highlights certain areas of the box, creating a "mysterious and suspenseful feeling".
Cinematography
Our audience feedback concerning the cinematography was quite varied; this was because of the fact that people liked the various angles we used to capture the characters within the thriller, such as high, slanted angles. In addition they liked the POV perspective due to the fact that it was original and it "allowed the emotions of the character to be conveyed onto the audience". A slight complaint was that people believed the section with the person in the box wasn't varied enough, and merely consisted of just him staying in the box for and extensive period of time. It was suggested that we try and vary the shots more with the close up of the eyes, and a variation of shots inside the box, to give a greater sense of location.
Editing
Our feedback concerning the editing wasn't that extensive. However one of the comments was that the tints added to the film made the seem more eerie and it was also made it seems more thriller like. In addition they said that it was rather smooth, and fluid from scene to scene, as well as a variety of different editing techniques, such as shot reverse shot etc.
Title
The titles were quite a significant problem due to the fact that people believed that our original typography didn't suit the whole concept of a thriller. In addition they believed the tech effects seemed far to action like instead of being mysterious, and thriller like. Furthermore they believed that it seemed to clean and slick, rather than being more rigid, and also they were refereed to as being "cliche and tacky". In addition the clarity of the titles was quite poor due to the fact that they were placed in very hard to see places, as well as the color being dull and boring. However one of the good criticisms was that people said it required a lot of technical skill, and it was great in terms of technical aspects. Some of the suggestions made by the audience were that maybe we should try and have title that were more clean cut in order to portray this sense of restriction, however avoid making them seem boring. In addition it was suggested that we change the place in which they were placed due to fact that the are seemed to far away from the beginning, as well as being in placed in sections of the thriller were the titles are indistinct.
Music
The music went down quite well and very little negative comments were made. One of those included that the music at certain aspects had too high a pitch at points were you'd expect the music to be a lot less dramatic, but more calm. However one of the good criticisms was that the music was well put together, and then actually fit the thriller as a whole because it was a mysterious yet tension building soundtrack, and ostensibly pleasing to the ears. However once again it wasn't always in time with the film, and therefore seemed rushed and uncompleted at points. It was suggested that we revise the music and try to make it seem less dramatic at certain sections as well as making it suit the more calm yet tension building.
Conventions of a thriller
Some of the conventions that people believed were incorporated into the were a sense of mystery and restriction, as well as a sense of realism due to the fact that there are houses and building, and a very localized area, which allows the audience to relate to it better. In addition people believed that we played upon a sense of restricted narration, which inevitably created enigma codes, causing the audience to ponder the possibilities of our narrative. However one of the problems were that people believed that our narrative was too restricted meaning that people weren't able to understand the plot as very little information concerning the narrative wasn't given. Some suggestions that were made

31/03/2011 log - Every aspects of thriller
Today everyone inside the group basically acted upon the feedback, and translated that back into the thriller. Scott redesigned the live type, which consisted of him basically upgrading the old live type, and basically just decided go change the color, font design and possibly the place in which the titles appear. In addition we decided to change the words inside the titles such as rather outlining everyone roles, we instead made the titles similar to that of a normal film. By this i meant that they consists of the directors name and the actors.
Within this screen shot it shows The initial redesigning of the titles consisted of Scott trying to figure out a way by which we could use our original effects yet still making sure that it suits the genre and our overall plot. He positioned the titles, and the "object" (tech effect) within the edge of the scene, and was deciding the proportions of both of them. In addition he wanted to insure that the "object wasn't dominant and more subtle, yet still capable of being unique and appealing.
Within this screen shot it shows the entire program used, and the structure of the the titles. In addition it shows that various layers of titles, and "objects" used. Furthermore it shows how Scott tried to play around with the fonts, one that would once again suit the genre of our film as well as the overall story plot.
One of the other thing we did today was the music, which was created by Muhidur. Initially our music was quite fast paced, and lacked any tension building areas. This meant that it didn't suit the pace portrayed inside them film, and so as a group we decided that it show change.
Within this screen shot it shows the new music which was a lot more tension building, and in rhythm with the entire film (despite the fact that it isn't finished) Furthermore in order to make the beat as perfect as possible he adjusted the volume accordingly to the thriller, and layers various beats upon each other to create a uniquely suspenseful sound. Furthermore the larger segments of music at the bottom of the print screen is essentially just a close up the music, which just makes it easier for Muhidur to spot out problems.
This screen shot is merely further along the soundtrack, and essentially just shows the various layers of the track. Once again he is adjusting the volume and pitch of the soundtrack.
Another one of the thing we did was the editing, done by Paul. He practically added additional effects as well as continued the editing the rest of the movie.
Within this print screen it shows one of the color tint effects, and he essentially added tints in order to create a suspenseful, and more eerie mise en scene.
